Youth Health Alliance

Our Mission:

The Youth Health Alliance is dedicated to promoting health awareness to the youth of our community by means of providing information concerning health related issues. We achieve this goal by providing informational material in the form of brochures, presentations, e-mail, and educational videos. These prompts will be presented, as well as distributed to the community, including, schools, hospitals, and public facilities. We support and encourage advocacy, research in illnesses/diseases affecting youths both directly and indirectly, education of health awareness, and participation in fulfilling our mission.

Our Vision:

The Youth Health Alliance also attempts to reach out into the local community, hoping to inspire and motivate adolescents to participate in our project. We hope to involve high school students as a community effort to educate and promote healthy lifestyles. Additionally we hope to teach the youth about marketing, business, health related issues, teamwork, leadership, and professional etiquette.

A few words from the Co-Founders:

Minh Nguyen and I, Paul Tran have started a non-profit organization called the Youth Health Alliance . Minh Nguyen has graduated from the University of Washington and is now seeking admission to medical school. Paul Tran is now in his 3rd professional year in Pharmacy School at the Univerisity of Washington. We both want to help people within our community and globally, this will not only help us learn more about taking care of ourselves but additionally prepare us for a future occupation in the health care field.

You may want to know what the "Youth Health Alliance" does? We promote health awareness and cover pretty much every aspect we can. We decided the best way to disseminate information was to broadcast educational videos through YouTube, Myspace, Facebook, and other social networking sites. These communication mediums are the most widely used for the targeted demographic we are trying to reach.

Our goal is to help the youth today build a foundation, so that they can construct a healthy lifestyle early on during adolescence. It is very difficult to break old habits later in life, this is why we stress the importance of eating healthy and exercising regularly at an early age. Thus, we hope to engage the youth by taking a different approach with social marketing.

Recently our organizations work has expanded more directly into the local community within the Seattle area. We have completed 2 consecutive Toy Drives for Seattle Children's Hospital (2008, 2009), equating to over $1250 worth of toys/books. In 2009, our organization donated over $1000 to UW undergraduates to complete a Vietnam Health Excursion. 2010, we sponsored Vietnam Health Clinic and helped contribute to the team visiting Vietnam for the summer of 2010.
