Are Energy Drinks Safe?

Back in the old days when I was an undergraduate at Washington State University, I studied a lot on campus. Be it the libraries around campus, the CUB, the multicultural center, my research lab with Dr. McCubbin, or even dorm lobbies I would see lots of college students drinking energy drinks. I myself tried it a few times, and found it not to be very beneficial. It only made me more nervous for exams, to study, and made my heart race. My old roommate would drink 2-3 of these to cram for exams, it was just insane. I would see this all across campus, especially before midterms and finals. I wondered to myself how safe is it for us to be consuming so much sugar and caffeine in these drinks? I didn’t even know how to pronounce some of the ingredients listed in these drinks. Now that I’m a graduate student, I wanted to do some of my own research to see how safe these are for the general public. Here is my take in this video:
